Festivals and special events
During the year the red sea tourism administration (part of the Eilat municipality), hotel chains and other private organizations and companies, produce and organize special musical, dance, theatre, ethnic, festivals and sport events.

Amongst the already known events are the red sea Jazz Festival, the Chamber Music Festival, the Valeri Gergieve red sea classical music festival, the Film Festival, the Bat-Sheva Ballet Festival, the Triathlon Int. competition, the underwater photographic competition and many more.

In Eilat Every Day is a Sun Day

Eilat is well known in Europe as a very attractive winter destination due the following advantages: Average temperature in the coldest months of the winter season between December and February is 16-17 deg.C.

In the summer whilst average temperature in Eilat reaches 38-39 deg.C. The humidity percentage is the lowest in Israel, between 25-35 percent.

The rainfall amount is about 30 mm for the whole winter season.

The average number of days with rain is between 6-8 days.
The rare combination of desert and sea climate, created in Eilat the best conditions for keeping the water temperature stable all year around, and the 20-26 deg. C allow for the development of one of the richest underwater life in the world.

Shekel – Rates of exchange could be easily found in Israeli newspapers, including those who are printed in the different languages, in bank branches, in exchange shops or in the bank of Israel web site. Most of the commercial establishments accept most international credit cards.

Getting to Eilat from Tel Aviv

Flights: “Arkia” and “Israir” are the airlines operating flights from Tel Aviv to Eilat. Most frequencies are from Sde-Dov airport (5-7 flights a day by each airline), but also from Ben-Gurion airport, normally two flights a day by each airline. Flights duration: 50 min, or 30 min by Jets.

Overland: “Egged”, Israel’s biggest public transport company operates regular services from main Israeli cities to Eilat. Journeys from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem to Eilat take 4-5 hours, and tourists can enjoy the ride in modern air-conditioned buses.

Eilat’s airport is in the city center and a short taxi ride from most major hotels. Eilat’s international airport is located outside the city, in Ovda.

Getting around

“Egged” Bus Company operates few routs in Eilat connecting centers in the tourism area, the tourism area and the city centers and between the north and south beaches. Alternatively, Eilat is known for its great number of Taxis. The cost of short or medium size journey range from 15-30 shekels and we recommend to, always, ask the taxi driver to operate the taxi meter. Several major international car hire companies are represented in Eilat and have outlets at the airport.

Shopping in Eilat is an integral part of any vacation, and Eilat has the added incentive of being a free-trade zone where everything can be purchased free of value added tax.
